Properties
Q-Hole
It is generally known that plasma can be used not only for cutting long-run contours but also for cutting holes into all electrically conductive materials. But how good is the quality of such cuts?
Due to the physical build-up of the plasma arc, there is a lower limit, the minimum diameter. A rule of thumb says that the smallest possible hole has a diameter which is approximately one and a half times the plate thickness, for example with a 10 mm plate thickness the holes can be as small as 15 mm in diameter. However, the patented Contour Cut technology allows cutting holes which are significantly smaller.

Contour Cut
Contour Cut (CC) is a technology for cutting small contours, narrow webs and especially small holes in mild steel. In particular when using the Contour Cut technology for cutting holes with a diameter to thickness ratio of 1:1, highest quality can be achieved.
The cut parts have a smooth cut surface and remain sharp-edged on the upper and lower side. Thus, time-consuming rework can be reduced. The productivity increases while the costs decrease.
The user benefits from the excellent cut quality. While the systems of other manufacturers require additional equipment, Contour Cut is now a standard feature of all our plasma cutting machines of the HiFocus (except HiFocus 80i), Smart Focus and Q series. For users with older machines a retrofit is available on request to be able to use the CC technology.
Contour Cut Speed
Contour Cut Speed is the further development of the patented Contour Cut technology for cutting small contours and holes in mild steel. With Contour Cut Speed (CCS) contours can be cut at similar quality up to 50 % faster. For CCS the same consumables are used thus enriching the existing CC technology by essential economic aspects, i.e. reduced costs per cutting metre by higher cutting speeds with excellent quality, very small heat-affected zone, high contour accuracy, angularity and surface quality. While other manufacturers require additional equipment, Contour Cut is now a standard feature of all HiFocus plasma cutting systems with the plasma torches PerCut 200 to 211 and PerCut 440 to 451. For customers who already have one of the HiFocus systems a retrofit may be available on request to be able use this technology.
Silent Cut
Due to the high energy density and flow velocity during high-quality plasma cutting the sound level can amount to more than 100 dB(A) depending on the cutting task. With Silent Cut, Kjellberg Finsterwalde now offers a solution to reduce the noise exposure significantly which is perceived as disturbing particularly in the upper frequency range.
Silent Cut reduces the sound pressure level by up to 15 dB (A) during plasma cutting of mild steels with a material thickness between 4 and 30 mm in the current range from 60 to maximum 170 A. A reduction of the sound level by 10 decibels is already perceived by human hearing as a halving of the loudness. Thus, Silent Cut makes an important contribution to health and safety at work – with high cut quality.
Silent Cut is available for the machines of the HiFocus neo, Smart Focus and Q series.
Advantages
The plasma cutting machines Q 1500 and Q 3000 combine precise, highest-level plasma cutting and marking with a maximum cutting current of 300A. Thanks to the modular design, the machine performance of the Q 1500 plus can later be upgraded and, thus, adapted to the customer's requirements. The specially developed browser-based operator interface Q-Desk provides real-time process data and information of all plant components on any standard device and location-independent. The user benefits from extensive information enabling him to plan and execute a variety of maintenance tasks as guided by the system.
